Leadership Mendocino is a program that seeks to strengthen the foundation of our communities by educating a diverse group of people who will get involved and make a difference.

By giving to the Leadership Mendocino program, you support our local communities in myriad ways. Of our 400 graduates, almost all those who remain in Mendocino County are giving back as elected leaders on city councils, the Board of Supervisors, commissions and boards, on community volunteer boards, commissions and clubs. Their efforts in service to a wide variety of organizations help make our communities better places to live.

Our non-profit program is supported by participants through tuition, local businesses, alumni and others who want to invest in making their community a better place to live. This support has helped our program fulfill its mission since its inception in 1993.

There are many ways to support the leadership development program in Mendocino County. You can make a gift to a specific scholarship fund, designate a scholarship that has meaning to you, support a specific class day or help provide general support to the program. Support can be cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, life insurance, or the designation of Leadership Mendocino as a beneficiary of a retirement plan. We can help you tailor your charitable giving to best suit your wishes. Most charitable gifts qualify for maximum tax advantage under federal law.

Scholarships
One full scholarship is $800. Participants are required to pay the remaining $100 of the total $900 tuition for one year as a personal commitment.

You can designate a scholarship that helps to ensure that the diversity of our County's population is represented in each Leadership Mendocino class. For instance, scholarships might be designated for someone representing a specific community in the County such as Gualala or Leggett, a particular occupation (i.e. forest products, small business or children's health), or a specific ethnicity such as Native American or Hispanic.

Class Day Contributions
Participants in the Leadership Mendocino class gather monthly throughout our rural County to learn about issues of importance: Orientation and Retreat, Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Business & Economic Development, Law and Government, Arts & Tourism, Education and Community Development, and Natural Resources.

Contributions of $50 or more to a specific class day are important to the success of the program and can directly impact the experience that we are able to provide. Those who financially support a specific class day receive recognition on the class day program and are invited to attend the class day.
